As has been mentioned. Plastic weld then fill gaps is best method.
There is a special plastic filler available from most spare parts stores.
Part number is BLISBF, and comes in a squeeze tube with hardener.
Suitable for metal too, but mostly used for plastics.
So you might be able to do some work yourself and save some labour money.
