Re: MONDA - the Honda Powered MX5
My guess is no bracing. If you read light years posts, he had all the bracing, removed it and found no loss.

Love this idea.
Look forward to updates of it running and costing etc (if you plan on doing so)

Suspension Upgrade
Have decided to try a made to order set of TrakSPAX coilovers. They are aluminium might
save a few grams of weight over OEM but I had some Tein SS on the car at present so probably little in weight.
They cleared customs today and will also doing the full set of car bushes at the same time,
so won't be on the car for it's first shakedown run but should be fitted up next week.

Make sure your suspension pivots easily after the new bushes.

Electronics Upgrades
Hondata Traction Control for "cheating", car isn't really eligible for anything anyway and
next time I end up at Phillip Island or Bathurst again and it's pissing down rain I won't
feel so bad about the cop out http://hondata.com/traction_control.html
it can be setup to only trigger during cornering even.
Will reuse the Motec Dash for logging and dashboard guage duties.
There's only 1 real luxury I really need, that is Cruise Control, it's a 9 hour drive
to Phillip Island and I don't like talking with those unfunny blue clowns.

Re: MONDA - the Honda Powered MX5
Yeah it came up nice, I guesstimated the K24 header flange location from photos and memory and got it spot on, the crossover to the other side of the chassis is pretty clever when you see it, and it even fits the OEM front brace without modification, not even washers.
Benny told me last night that its really sensible on idle but really opens up on VTEC. It has a resonator and a really big muffler and we stuck with 2.5" not 3" but 230whp n/a is a lot of flow to keepp quiet

Re: MONDA - the Honda Powered MX5
It's going to Marulan on the 16th if it's quiet enough for there then perfect otherwise may need a special crippled resonator for the noise sensitive days.

When you think about it, it's not bad! This is 175kW with the potential for more, plus the reliability of NA...looking more and more compelling.
