Hi.
The problem is the axle splines when fitted to the hub protrude past the hub on the inside and are exposed to water as there is no seal on the outer surface of the hub only a ring which is not effective. When you are fitting them if you can get hold of "never seez " coat the splines before fitting also use rust converter on the splines protruding past the hub before fitting and when dry paint the splines and the area protruding past the hub which will be affected with water with paint to seal the surface. It is usually the left hand side which causes trouble as it is subject to more water than the right. If you have to do this again it should come out with a minimum of fuss.
To get the hub of the axle for the first time usually means a press and oxy.

I just did a wheel bearing in Scarlet's car. Biggest hurdle on hers was a 36mm shaft nut. Twisted a 1/2" drive shaft trying to get it. Just take it to a garage and get them to loosen it with a 3/4" air impact wrench, then pinch it up enough to drive it home.
