How to change battery?

thanks, found out the two positive terminals (one silver and the gold one) are part of a kill switch. I'm just going to re-connect it how the previous owner had it.

Mr M, I was not suggesting that the OP join a club to sort out his wiring issues, but more to spend time with like minded people who might give him/her the confidence to improve their knowledge, BTW how can you say "The red wire with ring terminal is almost certainly a power lead", I would like a dollar for every incorrectly coded cable I have ever come across.

All hooked up and working great, car starts up without anymore hesitation and electrical devices are much more responsive. Appreciate all the help.
Noticed there was some oily residue around the battery compartment (underneath the plastic tray), is this just some oil or possibly residue from the previous battery/s? The previous owner had used a battery I don't think was appropriate (it did not have the ventilation holes).

If your new battery has vents they should be connected to a tube to allow the gases etc to escape the boot area. Make sure that you clean the oily residue (possibly acid) thoroughly, you can use Baking Soda to neutralise because if it is not cleaned up it will continue to corrode the compartment.

In the future, make sure to take some photos of how things are set up before you pull them apart, so you can refer to them to put whatever it is back together correctly.

battery seems to have died, was working fine for 2 weeks. pretty sure no lights were left on as it was parked in front of the door i lock every night. got it tested and was showing 10V and 53 CCA (!!). possible faulty battery? :frown:
