Charcoal canister?

NAs also get a "CEL" if you remove the solenoid. Only way to tell though is if you check the engine diagnostics. I assume if you leave the solenoid plugged in on the NB you won't get a check engine light.

I have removed mine on my 2001 NB, but I didn't get CEL, maybe this only happen on newer NB.

Honetly I don't think that canister is doing anything after so many years, so. I just took it out and make the engine bay looks clear.

Bartman is correct, I removed on both of my NAs and had an error flash when you connect a light to the diagnostics box. Doesn't effect anything else, no "limp mode" or anything.
I assume NBs might be more advanced?

The newer OBD NB's might throw a warning light but my 01 has had no side effects. If you hook up a diagnostic light it might but no issue otherwise.

Does anyone know if it is safe to just loop the two vapour lines from the fuel tank like this when removing the charcoal canister?

Also anyone know when the purge valve is activated by the standard ecu? I'm running a megasquirt so I want to know under what conditions the valve should activated if I decide to use the charcoal canister.

Activates when engine is warm at low throttle loads.

The other line just vents into the chassis / cross member for memory. I've looped mine.

So I guess you still have it, or superceded by adaptronic install.

So I guess you still have it, or superceded by adaptronic install.

Mine went LOOONG ago, even before the Adaptronic. Cleans up the engine bay nicely but generates a CEL error on rthe SE. No longer a problem with the standalone Adaptronic, it doesn't even know it exists.
