this type of stub axle/circlip design is used on many cars.a lot of the service manuals say that you should replace them every time they are out.the ones for my old Hyundai were about $5 for the 2.almost didn't buy them because it was a hassle to go and pick them up.cheap insurance I suppose.

Just a quick update.................replacement diff found 1.6 LSD 4.3.1 ratio, managed to remove and replace by myself, not bad for an old girl if I say so myself! Its amazing the instructions you can find on the internet :D ................ filled with some nice Penrith diff oil and took it for a run, no more noise and running great! :D :D

I have just noticed that you have used "Some nice Penrith diff oil", Is that from NSW? :wink:
