2001 model is using projector headlight, it has HB3 high beam and HB4 low beam separated
1999/2000 model is using normal headlight, it has H4 high/low beam (one bulb)

2001 model bumper has factory H1 fog light
1999/2000 model does not

2001 model has 16" factory wheels
1999/2000 has 15" factory wheels

2001 model has 6 speed or 5 speed
1999/2000 has 5 speed only (unless 10th anniversary version)

2001 model has auto window for driver
1999 has electric window without auto function for driver

2001 model tail lights and 1999/2000 model are different

These are the exterior difference, there are some other things in the engine are different as well

Lots of people have done this modification so it must be possible.

Things that may not be easy are;
- change the wiring, as tescoking said above the lights work differently in 2001+ models so the wiring is different.
- different light mountings, you may need to modify either the light housing or the on car mounting points to make them fit.

The NB series two (2001 built) were the first to have VVT in the engine. Little bit of extra power and efficiency.
Because reasons.

Huge list of differences;

Better seats, foglights in the bumper, better headlights, more power, SVT, bigger brakes, ABS, EBD, RPM sensitive power steering, 6 speed gearbox, coil on plug ignition, better suspension, usable cupholders, white faced gauges, different steering wheel, 16in wheels, more chassis stiffening, different rear lights, remote boot release & keyless entry, double DIN stereo, probably more that I can't remember.

Are you definite the 2001 has auto-down for drivers window, mine doesn't have it! :S Perhaps the previous owner upgraded your switches?
I get passenger down sometimes when I shift gears though :roll:

It was added to the NB8C in 2003. Some later 2002 NB8Bs got it too. The function is entirely contained within the switch so you can just swap the switch unit in to earlier NB8Bs.

Yup, mine didn't have it either.
I reckon the late 2002 model (with OBDII) onwards came with it. I got mine off an NB SE

Not really, as I rmbr I saw on another post, there are actually some modifiction need. But it is easy. Just change a few cable and it will work.

Not true actually.
I have one from an NB SE in my '01 8B, and it's just a direct swap with the non auto-down version. All good :wink:

But not a direct fit to NB8A. Some rewiring required.
