My car was the test mule for the Towbars of Woden towbar. I took the tongue off a few years ago when we got our new car (with roof mounted bike racks)

There was a thread on here somewhere. I really should find the pictures and put them online again.

Cost at the time was around $240.

That would be really helpful if you could fish that out

Amongst others I think Prr and barmy make sense. There was already a gent who recently designed a bike rack so that should be easy to find. As suggested look at making a bike fit eg removal of wheel etc or just don't use an mx5. Bike racks can also obscure brake light ,tail lights ,turn sigs and bumper plate on a small back end.

And how much does the rack itself weigh? Plus the weight of the brackets, bar and tounge of the whole tow bar unit? Any of those heavy. I think you'll be heading towards 80kg by the time you have an end result. (Which is really only the weight of a passenger anyway).

But it is a lot further aft than a passenger!

We also use a Thule 976 Lightboard with an RTA issued bike rack numberplate ($30ish). The lightboard attaches to the rearmost bicycle and replicates your brake lights, rear lights and indicators. I plumbed a trailer connector in to the car and leave it coiled up around the spare wheel when not in use.

Great photos, exactly what i was after. Thats an identical set up to what i want (inc the thule 970). From the photos it looks like they did a really nice job!

Easily looks strong enough for 3 bikes. I especially like the slim tounge that bends around the rear bar. Do you no if thats a standard tounge or did they custom make it?
