You keep inching closer and closer!.... Good luck with the search mate.

As for the missus complaining about having the boring car, well..... Just offer to transplant the turbo from the newly aquired SE to her car and upgrade the one in the SE to something a little more potent.... Win, Win and everybody's happy!

My Audi just cost me a mint in service and maintenance (a/c fan replacement - $680 fitted! , PCV valve replacement, breaks, tires and the service). Time for it to go!

Had the car chat with my girlfriend on the weekend, I think she's resiging herself to the fact that I've made my mind up, but she's still hung up on the ecconomics and practicalities. You very rarely make money when trading cars, but I think it will work out almost even. In one breath she says cars are a tool and in the next complains that I will have the fun car and she'll have the boring car  .

So now I need to show her how much I can expect for my car, how much I'll spend on the new one, and the expected profit/loss. But I think it's just a formality.

This weekend a buddy and I are going to go test driving. Hard to find NBs in dealerships around Brisbane though, and I don't want to screw around a private seller just to try on their car. The SE's that I'm serious about are are in Sydney, so not really on hand. Going to find an NC or two though, and I'm going to have a play on an 86 too, just to see what they're about.

If any body in Brisbane is willing to let me look at and sit in their NB or NA, I'd much appreciate it. I don't expect to drive your baby, but I would like to see how I fit in the cockpit.

if you are on the north side you are welcome to come look at my nb8b...i only just got it myself and getting used to mx5 ownership...cheers...peter

My Audi is sold! :D Now to find my MX-5!

I've been for a ride in a few MX-5s now, thanks to Zero00, pezchops, a used car dealer and a private seller. I've ridden in or dríven an NA6, NB8A, NB8B, NB SE and an NC. So I've had a good opportunity to try a wide variety, and I've enjoyed them all very much  I've long had my heart set on an NB SE though, and I still do. Although I think Zero00's NA6 could sway me, but that's a very unlikely scenario.

Of course, as soon as I have the money ready to shop, the Ti (preferred colour) SEs all dry up :frown: If anyone has a lead on one, please let me know. As Nevyn can atest to, I'm very keen.

Congrats on selling your other car, now just to find a mx5 that you like. Its hard to choose which model to get, all are brilliant but when I was looking I wasnt sure if I wanted the NB or NA. Iv dríven all now too from the NA6 to an NC2 and they are all great fun. (Havent dríven an SE though) NB8B one for me for daily and fun weekend/track car. Id like an NA one day too... and an NC

Good luck with the search and Ill keep a look out for any SE's for sale :D

So this thread has come to an end, this weekend (barring any major issues) I'll be driving home to Brisbane from Melbourne in a shiny Sunlight Silver SE

Look for a new SE Garage thread next week

Welcome, from another SS SE owner.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

If there's no front & rear plates then a Vicroads Unregistered Vehicle Permit needs to be attached to the passenger side of the windscreen, which is possibly what's visible on the passenger side of the windscreen of the vehicle in the pic.

That's exactly what that is, unfortunately a cop coming up from behind won't see it! :?

As you say it may not immediately be visible to someone approaching from the rear, but it's a well known practice in various states, which can be confirmed with a simple overtake. The last Vicroads UVP I purchased a few years ago required A4 sized paper to print page one, so it was a bit more visible.

Hi guys! No hassles yet from the man. Got the unregistered permit of course, but I could be speed to check.

Currently fueling up or outside gundagai. Been a great drive so far, roof down most of the way, beautiful country side. I realise in talking to the converted, but is there any thing better than blasting along on a sunny winters day, with the top down and the rock 'n' roll up?

Road to Gundagai sounds like it's been fun. Don't forget the Dog on the Tucker Box!
