How to clean the inside of a transmission

Does it happen only when the box is cold or irrespective of temps - just thinking that change of season and ambient temps drop so initial shift feels clunky when cold.

When you mentioned events, was there a significant difference in feel from when you first bought the car, to the gearbox pin issue to now?

The problem is always here, since I bought the car till now. I did think about it is the oil temp so the gear is not smooth. But this sometimes happen during the race, but less offen than normal driving.

Maybe should try to change the sleeve first?

Ah, if it has been like that since new then it could have been an opportune time to get it inspected when the wrong bolt came out.

I've had trouble getting from 1st to 2nd but it's only during cold cold mornings recently, the box oil is due for a change soon.

Oh, getting stuck in the morning almost happen everyday. Just not sure why it still happen after the car is warm.

HI.
Best way to "clean the inside of transmission " and shifting issues is to dismantle the box by somebody who knows what they are doing correct any problems then you will be a happy. Amen.

Get some prices on a rebuild, but you may end up going with a second hand one.

Work's charge rate for one of my fully re-conditioned boxes, installed, is $5,000 roughly. Usually with whatever good second hand parts I can find. But we're a specialist, and some of the parts are getting scarce. Not sure on what other people charge.

Obviously I don't see any of that money, but I'm just glad that no-one else at work has done any, or wants to attempt gearboxes. It leaves me time devoted to my one true love. :mrgreen:

pretty sure in Perth will be more expensive, I might consider a 2nd hand gearbox now...But what if I bought a bad condition gearbox again? =.=

Ask around. It can't hurt to get some rough prices. Remember to get quoted on install unless you plan on installing it yourself. Labour is a killer, and there is a LOT of labour in doing a gearbox, or a remove and refit.

I asked one place and just to remove and inspect cost $500.

Tesco pamex is building mx5 gear boxes but English sports cars so parts might actually be more expensive.

Ummmm, then I will ask them again to see what will be the high cost for rebuild my gearbox.
