brakes

hi all,
yet more questions, have bought rota RB 15x7 wheels for my NA6 they will have Potenza 205/50 on them, my question is about brakes, am interested in upgrading brakes all round, the Goodwin brakes seem to be in my price range, the have sizes from I think 285mm to 330mm, 90 per cent of my driving will be club runs and hoping for some track time as well--- what are your thoughts on brakes

My previous NA6 had slotted RDA rotors, QFM A1RM's, braided lines and good fluid. I used that car for runs through the twisties and track days and hill climbs. Pedal was always firm and once the pads came up to temp, good stopping power. I did boil the fluid once and had big brake fade into a fast right hander on the track. Learnt my lesson, change fluid more often.

My advice, get good pads, high quality fluid and braided lines for really good pedal feel. Did I mention good fluid? I'm assuming the car is running stock power? If so, this will be more than enough stopping power until you either up the power considerably, or actually need a BBK to cut some time at the track.

QFM A1RM's are excellent pads, had them on my NA8 and now on the SE

For what you are thinking of driving wise stock brakes and decent pads would be sufficent. You could look at the NA8 brakes or go the NB8B brakes if you want a 270mm disc on the front,

Plus 1 for the A1RM's for pads or look at the Winmax W3's.

A cheap option would be to go to Na8 / nba brakes. Bigger rotors and pads then na6. Fitted to the same chassis model from factory so no mod plate issues.

97mxV has a set for sale for about 250 but given how long they have been up I'm sure an offer might be excepted. ;).

NB brakes will be more than you will ever need for the car

His now look to be sold pending payment but here is another set. Match it the braided lines also for sale some fresh pads and fluid and you will have great brakes.

guy from local mazda dealer got back to me today about nb8b front calipers, $1700 just for the calipers, nearly sh*t myself, so back to the Goodwin brakes, what are your thoughts, its partly about the looks as well

Your sig says you have an NA8, so you've presumably already got bigger NA8 brakes. Absolutely no functional reason to upgrade, just get good pads and fluid.

Watch my space for a set of 4 wheel NB/SE Sport brakes with further upgraded slotted rotors and Hawk Blue front pads which will be way more than you'll need. Not available until my Wilwoods arrive, but worth waiting for.
