Lol. Qualifying at 11.30.
Bit of a more relaxed start than the last round, where I think we had drivers briefing at 8am and quali at 8.15, sandwiched as it was around the 300 activities.

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
I've had a thought while looking over the schedule for this weekends MRA round. I'm new to this 'racing' thing so please let me know if there's some regulatory reason for not doing this, but i've noticed the 'Speed off the Streets' practice day is happening in between the Saturday race events for the MRA round.
Now, the reason I noticed it is I imagine we have lost a few potential newbie racers to the MX5 club day that is happening at SMSP this Sunday - is there a reason we couldn't have a round/rounds of the MX5 Cup run interspersed throughout an MX5 Club track day? The opportunity to expose club members who are tossing up making the jump to racing would be huge, as well as the support and interest there would be from people who are MX5ically inclined. You obviously wouldn't be able to cross-enter Super TT etc, but we would become the headlining act with potentially a bigger field (maybe as a season opener next year to kick off interest?)
These are my thoughts.

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Stu the idea has merit for sure.
But I think the issues would be: compromising the time available for the club sprinters, it is a very successful formula Mike et al have been employing and allows decent track time for competitors. And the need to either have two lots of officials - not practical - or use the race officials for the club sessions also. Whether they would be happy to do so .... (most of the race officials are also vol'ies).
Question over costs too, likely to push the costs up for the sprinters as I imagine insurance costs would be higher across the day than a normal club day, and the need to have firies, ambos, and the likes of WP staff such as Sam in the ground crew.
I haven't seen a SOTS day on the same day as race events before.

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Good afternoon.
For all competitors this weekend at Wakefield Park - and anyone wanting to say hello - members of the committee will be located in the back 'B' row of garages. Anyone needing assistance can come see us there.
Note for ALL competitors in the MX-5 races: There will be a compulsory driver's briefing immediately after the general briefing on Sunday morning, at 10.00 am in the cafeteria.
All Cup entrants in the MX-5 Cup races are eligible for points which count towards the year's championship; and class placings for this round which puts them in the running for prizes of headphones from Audio Technica and trophies kindly provided by Wakefield Park.
Look forward to seeing you all on the weekend.
Craig.

Good luck! See you out there - looks like we will have a good field tomorrow, 15+ cars of varying speed so most people should have someone to race with

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Great day’s racing at Wakefield yesterday. Unfortunately we had a number of non-starters, casualties from earlier races. Ian then had a turbo issue in race 1.
We had 3 races as scheduled, with all afternoon events shortened due to an incident in the previous Excel race. Fortunately Sydney’s rain did not make it to Goulburn.
Some plaudits needed:
Cameron, a first time entrant, into the swing of things and quick from the get go.
Stu once again looking like an old hand out there, steering that somewhat familiar car around.
Chris….far out. What did you have for breakfast, I want some next time. Maybe I should get my tyres back.
Robert, you can certainly drive, great to have you with us.
David Stone too, very quick on some really old tyres with a lot of k’s on them.
Our final race was the last event of the day, making for a very late finish, I was literally the last out of there and could have turned the lights off for Sam.
Points results and tally will be posted in the next day or so.
Good clean racing, competition for all places, and smiles all round. Thanks to all.

Re: THE 2014 MX-5 CUP
Fun day, and spectators commented on how clean the racing was. That is great and I certainly felt everyone raced fair and clean.
The blue beast definitely found another gear on rubber more suited to my driving style and the confidence that gave showed in the times in the end, happy to come home with a good result, a PB, and an undamaged car. David deserved the win, he drives the wheels off that thing and his starts are something to behold... Thanks to Deckspeed for the ongoing support of this series, and to the club and Craig/Luke/Michael for all the organisation work behind the scenes.
