I found Auto One good, they are national. Matched the paint code for grace green for the NB perfectly, in spray and can.Odd wrote:Not easy to chase down touch up paint.....seems Autobarn's the go

Re: Hi....just bought a 1995 Na8
Thanks for info Mazmad
I ended up getting a small container Easter Monday from Autobarn Virginia…they do spray cans too
still learning how to get best results….colour match seems very good
Not many Auto One stores up this way…..but I do go up the coast regularly and there is one there, so will check it out next trip….;)
I was advised Supercheap are putting in a new colour matching system that will be ready in a few weeks?

From my VERY limited experience, it is very hard to get a good finish with a brush. With the spray can, put light coats, if you need multiple coats let it dry or the paint will run.

Re: Hi....just bought a 1995 Na8
I've been applying the paint with a toothpick…..seems the biggest issue is preparation
I tried just cleaning with grease remover but seems better to sand to get new paint to key
I'm also letting paint dry a few days before sanding(I'm glueing 1500 grit wet/dry to a paddle pop stick, and just sanding the new paint to level of existing),then polishing
not perfect….but at least the marks are red not grey(exposed undercoat)
Some of the bigger chips will take a few more applications….
Not ready to cut loose with a spray can….yet!

Great looking car.
Isn't it fantastic that you can still pick up cared-for originals with such low mileage.
For every 'sad' example I see around, there seems to be one that has been looked after by an enthusiast.

Was having b/fast at The Gabba Sunday morning
The car was parked in center parking area with top down
A young lad walked up and stood beside the car while his Dad took his photo
Put a smile on my face too!

Those experiences are the best, travelling along View Street in Bendigo (walking pace plus) when two heads popped out of the window of a large black family thing and called, ZOOM, ZOOM in chorus.
There is a thread here filled with good experiences, pleased that you are enjoying your car.
Greg.
EDIT. I have just found the images, your car looks stunning.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?
