Most reliable setup for NA

i think the answer based on your goals is either will do.
ultimately to support that amount of power you are going to need to replace most stock components on both cars that have anything to do with power - either getting it to the ground or retarding it sufficiently to not die.
both will require massive modifications to the drive train and stiffening the body/chassi.
but like most bright eyed p platers do you honestly see yourself spending 30k plus on modifying a car?

I've dríven an mx5 with 270rwkw (ls2 powered). All your time is spent trying to keep everything facing forward, and trying to avoid getting spat off the road. More than that would be stupendous, and of absolutely no use in anything but a track only car.

I can't agree more with this statement.
250rwkw is too crazy for the street. 150rwkw is a sensible sweet spot imho.

Plan was not to go straight for 250kw, plan was to build something with 170kw but build with future power goals in sight. Ryan (cookie) seems to think that's its funny to make fun of someone who crashed the day they had to bury their grandfather. went for a drive to cheer me up but turned out to be worse.

That would have been a rough day Angus, I remember both my grand fathers funerals.
My point stands on being careful with the power. 170 kW is still a big handful for a novice driver.
Now don't take that as an insult but a point that unless you have heavily involved with motor sport prior to getting your license you couldn't possibly have experience with that sort of Vehicle and the result could have been alot worse.

I couldnt agree more. Unless you know how to handle that sort of power, it is very dangerous to yourself and everyone around you when you drive it hard on the street, even in a straight line.

I'll be following this thread - as I too have a NA6 that's going down the boost path in time.
M1474 - I debated the same situation, but fortune made the decision for me. I picked up a smashed NB1 with panel only damage for $1k (SA prices), and so am in the process of transplanting the BP4W & wiring loom from that into my NA6.
Essentially freshened up the "wear" items by 100,000kms. And got bigger brakes / better suspension to go with.
Since you're not in a rush, maybe that's an option?
