Hi Guys,
A few questions for the more knowledgable
This is more for my RS CLIO but i trust the experts here so much more.
I have Brake rotors that were new with New pads.
The front are slotted with Ferrodo DS2500 pads, the pads almost worn to the slot.
The rear OEM discs with Brembo Pads, only a few months old.
I have a new set of DS2500 that just arrived to go all around for this years Supersprint Season.
My questions are-
Can i just replace the front pads as it is the same material and the wear looks very even with no noticeable lip on the Rotor?
On the rear, do you think i would have any issues with a different pad material being on the disc?
The rear are still almost new.
I am concerned with buggering up $380 worth of pads, every other time i have done Pads i have also gone to new Rotors as i have never had the car long enough to need to do it again.
I am very limited for time
My other option is to just use what i have for this weekend and then try and sort it out for the next event.
It would prob be fine as there is still some material on the pads.

You should always bed pads in on new rotors, which means brand new rotors, or freshly machined ones.
Chatswood brake and clutch are so cheap, like $40 per pair to machine / skim if there is no lip.
They are quick too, drop off at 8am, pick up after lunch, so car isn't off the road for that long.

as long as the discs look okay the fronts will be fine to be popped straight on. the rears will be good to go after you give the rotors are good scrub
but like emily says machining or new is usually preferred when changing types of pads

Sux about the rear as the new discs also contain the bearings/Abs ring etc.
Seems like such a waste to lose material of the discs.
Wish there was a way to just scuff off the old pad material.
Oh well, at least i should be able to have Track pads at the front without machining.
I will measure the disc before doing the swap to make sure i am well above minimum thickness.

Might be preferred but I replaced glazed hawk pads with a set of QFM pads and just bedded them in like normal.

From someone who has raced for a very long time, this is what I do when replacing pads/rotors on my road and track cars:
Pads only, same pad material and type - If rotors are OK, meet limits of thickness, no run out and no big lips, then just throw new pads in. If the rotors are a little scored on the surface no real need to machine.
Pads only, different pad material - If rotors are OK as above then hit the rotor surfaces, both sides with some ~180 to 200 emery paper to clean off old pad material and then bed new pads in as per instructions supplied with pads.
Rotors only, keeping pads (Hawk DT70's will chew rotors like there is no tomorrow) emery paper on rotor and then pad, or even easier rub pad surface on rough concrete to get fresh pad material and bed in as per instructions.
Rotors and pads - emery paper on rotor to clean off any grease or other muck and then bed in as per instructions.
I can't remember the last time I ever machined rotors, except for a very light skim after leaving them out to weather for a few months for use on the race car to get rid of the rust that formed. Unless you have gone metal to metal or gotten a rock lodged in the works to gouge the rotor face you don't really need to machine them. Downside is that brakes maybe noisy, or if you drive a falcon, you will get a shudder in the pedal if using standard Ford rotors. With the Ford rotors the shudder will be there even if you machine the rotors.

I have scored a deal on DBA T2 rotors for the front so will use them but as the rear are new I will use the emery paper.
I can then get the fronts cleaned up and measured and hopefully be good to use again.
If not I got them for a bargain from a friend who upgraded to willwoods when these where at about 50%.
