I'm thinking I'll do the same thing as Nevyn, use a single din slot for 3 guages (still a long way off for me), but I'm very interested to see what Emily is cooking up!

A long way off for you? Yeah...... You've still got to get your car yet! :P

Cumbersome navigation is why the Kenwood doesn't suit unfortunately, I tend to channel surf amongst a range of stations so a quick button change is essential for me.

Emily's solution is, I believe, a variation of a 'pod' type fitting (but neater) which fits to the top of the instrument cluster housing, this doesn't appeal to me unfortunately.....

Settled for this one.

Doesn't have BT, but wouldn't use that anyway, and it was $60 cheaper too!

Now off to Fleabay for some ISO connectors.....

Interested to hear how it goes in practice. Looks a little much to me a bit busy, and I want BT, but if it suits you, I might look into it too (in time)

It's actually a lot cleaner in the flesh and I'm a bit old fashioned, I like buttons!

BT's only really useful for streaming music from your phone (don't have music on my phone but can still be done by USB from my Android) and hands free phone. As for the phone, I don't wan't to be bothered while driving the '5' and I don't think it would work very well with the roof down anyway.....

If you want BT though, this is basically exactly the same unit with BT.

I really like the look of that Pioneer, but both of those HUs don't do DAB. Seems to be very hard to find a single-DIN unit that does DAB and BT.

Hey neyven. I got my connectors from 1stopcaraudio on eBay.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you on that one.

Here you go, DAB+, BT, Single-DIN, rear USB.....

I would have got this one in a heartbeat if it did blue backlighting! :(

No worries, I got the Mazda -> ISO from MX5parts.uk as part of another order (at lesat I know it'll be good for the '5', couldn't be certain with eBay units) and the Alpine -> ISO from eBay...
