flying miata se intake, any one have one?
Looking at getting a flying miata intake for my se as its a decent price and Its the only one I can find that will ship to aus. I was just wondering if any one on here has any first hand experience with them? Like how do you find it with the position of the filter?

They don't fit. This part with the red square around it is where the intake would sit on our cars.
AEM (most common), or Begi intake are about our only options.
MINX's engine bay for reference with the AEM intake fitted: Note the brake fluid reservoir is on the opposite side also, due to RHD brakes
Sorry man.

Dam didn't even think about that. Aem was my original choice but every seller I find that stocks them will not ship to aus. Have seen plenty of the guys in aus use this cai, where are you all getting them from??

Supplier for AEM intakes in Australia is MX5-Mania in Sydney (Dural).
http://www.mx5mania.com.au/product1381.htm
Not cheap though at $600 + shipping and illegal in most states due to the exposed pod filter so you would have to enclose that somehow if that's an issue for you.....
There have been quite a few guys that have got the BEGi intake recently (enclosed filter so legal) but this one doesn't get quite as much of a power increase as the AEM according to those that have tried both. PM one of the guys that imported one lately to find out how they did it.
Here's a picture of the BEGi intake installed for comparison....

And check if an exposed filter is actually illegal. I don't believe it is on QLD but haven't specifically gone looking.

Same (in both my understanding of Vic law, and that I haven't looked it up in ages)
I don't believe it is in Vic either, as long as it's not an oiled filter (they're not legal because of an apparent fire risk if the car backfires through the intake...... even though I doubt oiled cotton is any more/less flammible than paper on a normal filter)

Not sure if you saw in the other thread, but I bought mine from Amazon US for $300 shipped a few years ago when the AUD was good.
http://www.amazon.com/AEM-22-489P-Polished-Intake-System/dp/B0012UOZEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395891333&sr=8-1&keywords=AEM+22-489P
Looks like they're still the same price but the AUD is not as good. Still cheaper than $600!

Re: flying miata se intake, any one have one?
Bill from miata roadster got back to me. How ever to have it shipped to aus it was going to cost me $250 Ouch! Pm'd dan, may wait a few months for him to get some back instock. Looking at starting with the throttle body inlet and bov instead of the intake.
