I was able to get Redline from AutoPro in O'conner, glad its easier to get these days.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

315km for 30L of fuel, 10L per 100 or 30 mpg, good for around town.
my young bloke has some nulon 75/80 so that will do as box is a bit noisey anyway.
I missed out on a short block 1.6 today as i checked my email to late and it was off to scrapy, dam oh well

Been Getting Approx 7L to the Hundred on mine.
Had her for a year now, Average over about half city and half highway/country roads.
A good Syn Gl-5 in my gearbox and Standard Gl-4 in my Diff.
Also put some additive in my gearbox as recommended on this forum.
Really helped the cold shifting. Mazda does have a good gearbox.
Compared to my Vette, About 17 Miles to the Gallon.
Well, No comparison!

Has it really been a year since you bought yours DOC. How time flys. yep love the gearbox shift, very nice.
Havnt even worried about checking tune side of things yet as it runs smooth as, nothing like my rough lumpy 383 vette HA HA HA. Vette economy dosent even compute for me.

Hi and welcome
Rather than spend money on the motor give thought to fitting a second hand 1800.Heaps out there and you can buy a conversion kit, easy!
Food for thought

Well, If She's still running fine, I'd see what I could do with the wobbly crank before I'd give her the shove.
Amazing what you can jury rig with some shim stock.
If it run's fine, Run it. When it dies, (If it does) yes, then I'd look at a 1.8 upgrade.
A bit less free revving than the 1.6, But a bit newer engine with just a bit more "POP".
Me, I'll keep my NC. Love the PRHT. And the Bose Stereo.
But a fair few on here call her a barge. Just a tad heavier than your NA.
But a barge they say none the less. (But damn it rides nice).

As per the K's. Yes I drive my MX to work on rainy days. And sometimes just because.
I try to get out on the weekends for a run through the hills nearby. Sometimes with the MX club.
But admittedly, haven't for awhile now.
The Bike has racked up 42 thou in 3 years.
The Vette, Mostly club runs and track days, But I do take her out for a spin once and awhile.
The Vette gets HARD miles. But 37 years old and still only 87 thou on her.
Just costs to much to run daily. And I have had her for many, many years now.
Running her in peak hour traffic scares the sh*t out of me. I can drive like a pro.
But the monkeys out there with a licence!
In the U.S. you have to PASS a test to get a licence.
Here they gave me one for a fee.
Not even so much as a eye test!
And they give out taxi licences at the airport just for arriving from India.
No need for any road test of any kind.
So the Stingray hides in the shed, To many idiots out there without insurance.
But when I do take her out, Well, My MX wishes it could deliver that much excitement!

Hmmm 1.8 will have to do a thread search on that. Im sure that pulleys are secure to crank just something is amiss with key or something. will get to look one day. runs great so dont want to touch to much.
Have to get it up and check out front end son getting sick of the rattle from right front on holes, think it might be shock lower mount rubber.
would so like a cross of vette n mx5, would be a cool car. Oh and DOC love your hardtop fix
