Anyone with an NB and an SSB battery should go and check their battery box.
I bought one back in August. In December I was doing some work in the boot and noticed the battery was leaking. Unfortunately my battery tray was cracked so the acid was merrily eating away at the floor of the battery box. The battery was leaking around the lid. I got a new battery under warranty no questions asked and I got another battery tray and repaired the damage. I checked it a couple of times and everything seemed fine so I forgot about it.
Two weeks ago I was doing some more work in the boot and thought I'd check the battery just to make sure everything was OK. It wasn't. Battery acid had been leaking out of the vent hose filling up the battery box as well as running down the outside of the car from the battery breather. I took the battery back and they initially denied any fault with the battery, saying the charging system was faulty. They checked the charging system and everything seems to be working fine. Once again saying there was nothing wrong with their batteries as no one else had ever complained, but they gave me a refund anyway and I bought a Mazda OEM battery. I've only had it a few days but so far not a drop of acid is leaking out of the vent holes.
So check your batteries guys to make sure they aren't leaking. If by chance I wasn't working in my boot I may not have picked up on the leaking battery for months.

Re: Super Start Batteries
that is probably good advice but almost everyone wants to buy cheap batteries. The AGM fitted in MX5s were fantastic batteries long lasting, and designed for the MX5 and of course no battery acid.
