WA Cylinder Head work

Postby wydra » Fri Mar 14, 2014 12:07 am

Hi guys,

I almost have my BP4W head off and want to drop it somewhere to pressure check the coolant passages, valves etc and do a hardness test.
If it is in good enough condition surface the face and get it cleaned up ready to re-install.

Does anyone recommend anyone here in Perth (SOR preferred)?
I found Head Exchange randomly on Google (http://www.headex.com.au/) but have not been recommended them so not sure how their work is, might be great but it's a shot in the dark.

Thanks,
Dale

I was going to suggest asking Rotomotion for a recommendation, but then thought, they really would not have much to do with cylinder heads.

Would it be worthwhile to do the porting/polish thing while the head is off?

No porting or polishing.
Just get it fixed, get it back on the block with a new metal head gasket and a ARP stud kit.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I've had recent machine work (block and head) done by Harris Engines, http://www.harrisengines.com.au/

Great blokes that don't piss fart you around, decent turn around and good prices.

Thanks guys,

Just gave him a call and he sounds like a good bloke.
Will pay him a visit with the head early next week.

Fingers crossed it is still within hardness specs.
