If you drive with no shift boots you can feel hot air coming from around the transmission.
Also the stick falls out and you wind up unable to change gears.

This is how I learned that if you HAVE to be stuck in a single gear, gear 2 is definately the one to stick with...

Mine hasn't got torn shift boots, doesn't get hot at all with heavy track work but gets hot when sat in the sun.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Is it metal?
