What lights should come on during ignition ?

Postby booki89 » Sat Mar 08, 2014 12:28 am

Hey all,

I have a 94 NA8, and when i turn the key to ignition, only brake and one other light come on the center. Should there be a engine light coming on during ignition? Looks like there are 4 spots for lights, and from memory I only have two...

Also there is a light near my cup holders that comes on when I turn my headlights on, is that meant to be there?

'93 ADM NA8 here - 'Charge' & 'Brake' warning lights come on in the instrument binnacle when the ignition key is turned. If you've got OEM radio-cassette then the radio-cassette clock will also light-up. When the head/side light stalk is turned one or two clicks, the light just ahead of what was originally the ashtray comes on in the centre console.

does a na8 even have a engine light?

i think it is just brake, oil and charge lights.

add door and airbag if the door is open or you have an airbag fitted.

That's what I was referring too! The binnacle. I also only get charge and handbrake. Just looks like there is a spot for two more lights to show up.

I don't think mine has airbags.

Good too know that light in the center console is meant to be there. Although unsure why...haha!

I did find out what they all are at one point. Some of them aren't used in Aus models. Pretty sure no oil light either because of the gauge.

Probably to act as a marker for the opening of the ashtray (if still fitted).

Just a FYI or incase some else searches. The following is based on a 93/94 Aus delivered na8.
Light above fuel gauge = hardtop demister - fitted.
Headlight with arrow in taco = headlights moving - fitted
Hold light in taco- no idea guessing to do with a auto box.
Light below oil gauge is high beam - fitted
Below that is the "main section"
Top left - charge light - fitted
Top right - hand brake - fitted
Bottom left - check engine - not used
Bottom right - seatbelts - not used
Bottom left by itself is abs - not fitted
Bottom right by itself - washer (I assume level) - not fitted)
