Yes - that's the spec of the plug that I'm using and it fits perfectly.
Have you measured your new plug to verify the thread and pitch are correct?

My only listing for the engine drain plug is M14x1.5 and I sell drain plugs. It's not uncommon for the sump to be drilled and tapped to the next size e.g. m16x1.5 if it has been cross threaded in the past. Have you measured the plug that does fit?
