Lowering Issue

Hi All,

My NA 1990 Mx5, has adjustable KYB shocks and lowered king springs installed, however there is a slight gap between the wheel and guard which i would like to get rid of, getting coil overs isn't really an option as i dont really want to spend the money when the suspension on there now is good enough performance and ride quality wise, only issue being the height. Just wondering what my options are that are relatively cheap and available in aus.

Can you put up with the ride getting a fair bit worse?

Then just put super lows in or cut the springs. It will be horrible in every way however. It will handle like crap and ride like crap.

Higher profile tyres would do the trick and improve the ride. Shame on you Dann for not being as helpful as I am.

Cut a piece of cardboard out and attach with double sided tape. Cheap.

Regardless of tyres the shocks won't control the springs AND it will sit on the bumpstops.

Pretty sure he meant higher profile tyres INSTEAD of cut springs, not as well as.

Higher profile tyres would fill the arch gap, and make it seem more comfy.
They'd also make the gearing taller, and the speedo off, and the handling not as good, etc.

First time I've been back on this forum in ages.
Wow things Havant changed.
Dann is still an ass and not very helpful :lol:

I'd encourage you to look for a good second hand set of adjustable coilovers.
Height as well as spring adjustment is a plus if you look for some.
Sure they cost a bit but then you can get what height you want rather then cut springs and have the issues that come with them.
