Query about windscreen wipers control arm

Recently bought an NB. The manual says I should be able to push the wiper control arm forward for a single sweep of the blades. Does this feature work on others' cars, if so mine must be broken.

Thought the same with mine when I first got it....

The movement is actually more a 45 degree up + forwards motion.
At first it didn't work but after a little while it did, switch was probably a little sticky and/or non-responsive from a lack of use!

Was about to post literally the same thing about the motion.

Also, only works from the top most "Off" position.
