Chu engine sounds?

Postby ess » Thu Feb 27, 2014 8:13 pm

When I change gears at about 4-5k revs, especially going from first to second gear, it sounds like the exhaust or engine makes a "chuu" sound. It's a NA6 non turbo, but it kinda sounds like a blow-off valve or something..

Cheers! :NA6:

It means it is being dríven correctly. My NB regularly sees the redline in first gear and often hits the revlimiter in other gears and because it is supercharged with a recirc valve it makes funky noises on lifting off.....GRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHH-FAP-FAP-FAP-FAP-FAP....FOOOOOTUTUTUTUTUPIGEON

No idea what your noise is, could be a vacuum leak somewhere.

Methinks that noise is a small leak in your exhaust system (I get the same). Just listen from what area the noise is coming from and have a look at your exhaust (usually a small corroded spot on a join).

Unsure if everyone here is being sarcastic or I'm just not understanding the "chu" sound he is getting....

I know the stock CAI this beautiful engine has makes a nice noticeable induction noise specially around the 4-5k range.

My other car has a really quite CAI but this one is nice and loud! (Haven't even put the Mania CAI in yet  )

P.S. Drive the car through a tunnel, done this many times while heading to MX5 Plus this week and oh my the sound is beautiful!

CatchyD I do that! I just slow down and then just accelerate up to the speed limit, rinse repeat! I may have to do that tomorrow on the way up to Plus.

That's exactly what I do! Off the gas, on the gas, off the gas, on the gas, etc.
