Yeah!.... Another package this morning.

My Turbosmart Kompact plumb back BOV just arrived, it's amazingly solid compared to the light plastic factory unit.
Now I just need to source a replacement 34mm boost side inlet tube (sent an email to Turbosmart already) so I don't need to keep using the dodgy reducer that currently fitted to the factory BOV......

Interesting variation on the function compared to the factory unit too. The factory BOV has airflow running into the side of the piston whereas the Turbosmart unit runs towards the top of the pistion. The factory way of doing it, I would have thought, would make the piston prone to sticking with higher airflows (pushing the piston sideways against the wall of the BOV) and is probably why it has some difficulties with higher boost levels.

Anyway, I'll wait until I hear back from Turbosmart about the replacement 34mm fitting before installing the new beastie.

I know it's only a dodgy online simulator but any comments/thoughts on these rims as an option?

Speedy 'Pulse' in 16x7 (4/100) 38ET offset and around 5.3kg per rim (I think).
On special at the moment for $155 each (in Australia)

Would run 205/45-16 tyres, so same width as factory, for road driving only duties. Probably Khumo 31's....

And here's a closeup of the rim itself.....

I suppose I could always bung them on the Astina if they don't work out..... :?

In all honesty I think providing an opinion on rims is bad unless the price is mentioned. For example if those rims are only costing you a few hundred, they're AMAZING!

But if they're $1300 or so.. There are so many better options.
They aren't ugly. But in my opinion there is better out there.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

This may sound crude but I always associate Speedy with cheap nasty wheels

I've seen these wheels on other cars & they look ok, kind of an OEM look about them.

But I wonder if the sharp angles will conflict too much against the smooth flowing lines of the NB ...

Sort of coming to that conclusion myself......... :|

Thanks for the responses guys, starting to consider wheels and tyres a bit earlier as, while my current set have a lot of tread, the fronts are only cheapies and I discovered a bad gouge in the sidewall of one of my good Dunlop rears. :(

Things are going to be quiet for a while as I had a bit of an accident while body-surfing on the weekend.....Broke my right leg in three places!

I've actually only just gotten home from Hospital after having some serious metalwork installed and will out of action for a few months so the poor little beastie will be somewhat neglected for a while. :(

Oh well, I suppose this at least deserves a couple of pictures!

Whoah, that's certainly a "mod" I didn't expect to see in a build thread!

I assume you knew immediately it was broken?
