Spark Plugs and Leads - eBay?

Looking at changing out my sparkplugs and leads for maintenance.
Has anybody tried these leads off eBay?

Are leads "leads" or is there a big difference between generic and brand name stuff?

I assume most people run those NGK plugs too?

Spark plugs I've always used either NGK or Bosch.
Usually NGK since they're available pretty much everywhere. (make sure you get the right ones, NA and NB plugs are different temperature, NA plugs will cause an NB to run hot and ping)

Iridium, Platinum, and all those other fancy metal plugs don't really lead to any more performance, but they last longer. Normal old copper plugs give a better spark, and cost a lot less. I change mine every 3rd service or so.

as for leads, try to get something good.
I've found that my OEM ones finally died a while back, so I replaced them with a set of Top-Gun (or maybe Eagle?) leads, and they were just as bad as the dead OEM leads (misfiring etc)
I've now got a secondhand set of Magnecor leads on there, and they've been great (despite being 10 years old, and having been drenched in hot oil on a previous engine)

I haven't used the NGK leads, but I believe the factory leads are made by NGK (I'm only about 50% on that though)
I know the NGK are a common choice in the USA.

Hmmm. Well those leads from eBay don't seem to have a brand. Little cautious now on what leads I buy

the answer is almost the same for anything. Quality has to be built in - copy products are often rubbish and no way to know. Your local mechanic is buying leads probably every week and gets something they can rely on. Look at who is selling the product and that is usually a guide - local stores do not want returns and mechanics are the same. Brand name plugs are available in every suburb- in your hand probably in 10 mins. Sourcing the cheapest is not a good ploy- buying a reliable product at as reasonable price is better.The product you buy locally can be taken back as well. Thats not to say on line purchasing has no place- it does but not as a default. These products are of course maintenance items- they do not last forever.

Send a msg and ask for a price on the leads themself.

I did so last year and had them delivered for around $50 from memory (the dollar was also higher back then).

The leads are the same anyway, so it shouldn't matter which set.

My current leads came straight off an NA6 and went into my NB

This one looks like a good deal.

The plugs appear to be BKR6E-11's.

I've got a NA6 running low boost (5-6psi). Should these be ok? I think a lot of the turbo guys prefer using BKR7E-11's.

spark plugs are cheap - readily available e.g. Bursons. The leads are not OEM - they could be fine and they may also not be good. You can buy leads here or maybe from the UK MX5 guys who seem reliable. Unless there is a worthwhile difference in cost for comparable quality its easier to buy locally. If you have a problem on any part bought overseas its inconvenient. If you buy it from Bursons or Repco etc and its faulty they replace it. Always an individuals call - almost everything now is made o/sesas anyway- USA and UK probably buy from China etc.
