Jenvey ITB's and space issues
After speaking to a few people on Thursday at QR about the way MX5 Plus solved the space issue regarding the Jenvey's and the brake booster and a recent PM I thought I would post a few photos and an explanation.
Engine bay layout as it is now. Note there is no clutch master as it has been incorporated in the brake master.
Now you can see where the proportioning valve was relocated to
Close up of the clutch tie in
Close up of the proportioning valve
Brake/Clutch master
There is only about 60mm from the top of the Pipercross filter to the brake/clutch master. The Pipercross is about 65mm high from the backing plate.
And about 50mm from the firewall to the Pipercross
Another possibility instead of the booster delete is to use curved trumpets like these. Which if the 90mm trumpets I have work these will be tested next.
I'm happy to bring the car around to people in Brisbane so they can have a closer look or see if they can make it to the coffee at Burpengary on a Saturday or give MX5 Plus a ring and ask for a quote for them to do it.

Re: Jenvey ITB's and space issues
So is the brake master cylinder and booster standard? The tank looks different - that I assume is non-stock and another part? Do you know which? Googling 5X31 turns up nothing !!??
Nice solution.

Booster is stock. I will speak to MX5 Plus and confirm the part number. I could look at my invoice for the engine build but it is sealed away in a packing box never to be found! I tried the search as well and found nothing as well.
From memory Jason said it was the same as a RX8.

Re: Jenvey ITB's and space issues
its just a 323/laser tank. there are interchangable between mx5 and 323 boosters.
but what master did the use for your clutch? a 323 one also?

Yes the clutch and brake fluid are now in the one unit. I assume that it can be done on your NB.

I changed the setup, but it worked! The info on the parts used are in the post.
What you need to source is the clutch reservoir remote hose, something like this. Get an old clutch master take it to a place like Enzed and have them make a hose up.

Re: Jenvey ITB's and space issues
You can use the clutch master from an Astina and remote mount a reservoir where convenient or use the astina res' for both brake and clutch fluid, the reservoirs are all interchangeable between different years/models.
I believe the later protege masters can be used also, i think it was member NDRAGUN that has pictures in his build log of the later 323 parts for his jenvey install?
I've heard the shared brake/clutch reservoir from the astina is better for fluid circulation.
Astina clutch master left in above blurry image.
Have a look at motorcycle reservoirs, i used a Ring Brothers 'muscle car' res' mounted up behind the brake booster.
Harder to keep an eye on fluid level without repeatedly opening lid though.
Astina master and res at bottom, note the difference on the booster side of masters.
You can mount the astina master in a later nb booster or use one of the later nb masters to have your brakelines come off the driver's side, requires new hardlines to be made though.
I used an astina master, nb booster and astina clutch master with remote res' and a remote mounted bias valve for a little more room. Looking to use the original NA6 brake reservoir.

Re: Jenvey ITB's and space issues
Here's a quick shot showing the wonderful paint condition of my engine bay. Also showing the increased room using the 97 astina brake master/NB booster combo and copper nickel hardlines. You can see the difference in angle of astina clutch master inlet/outlets and the remote reservoir line sneaking off behind booster.
Not quite happy with the brake hardlines, i may do them again for the 10th time or so.
I had to trim and re-bead the booster vac pipe to get a better angle for the booster line to manifold. Best to keep the booster vac source separate from map sensor etc as it interferes with vacuum to map sensor. I also placed a small fuel filter inline to map sensor to smooth out the vacuum signal.
I think it was actually gslenders build log showing astina brake master and res and not ndraguns' as reffered to in previous post, apologies for that.

Re: Jenvey ITB's and space issues
I run a dedicated vacuum log for the map sensor, the fuel pressure regulator is left vented to atmosphere.
The booster is plumbed to a single runner on the jenvey manifold and I've had no worries with braking performance.
