There is a great bunch of people in the MX5 community.

Everytime I fill up my mx the older guy behind the counter always says nice things about it.

Few times Iv taken it to the track there has always been someone come up to me and start a conversation about my mx5, last time an older guy asked many questions as he was looking to buy one.

Also its nice when you pass one on the streets you normally get a friendly wave as you pass each other.

Its a good feeling, you dont normally know any of these people but somehow you feel like you do just because you both drive an mx5. Makes my day.

Also my first great experience with the MX5 community was before I even bought one.

Zero00 on this forum kindly invited me to his house so I could take a look at both his NA and NB MX5's and take both of them for a good drive so I could get a feel of what driving an MX5 was all about and see if I liked them before I went and bought one. After about 5 minutes probably not even that I was hooked. I mean he didnt even know me, we had never met before only had a few conversations over this forum but yet he was still kind enough to let me drive both of his great cars.

Many more happy times ahead with the MX5!

Ha..... great to here the stories.

I have returned to my car a few times and had a note with a phone number offering to buy my car and was I interested in selling.

The mx5 seems to appeal to a wide range of car people, both enthusiasts and not. Most recent event was the GM of Mazda QLD flagging me down and having a chat about my car. I work in the building next store to QLD Mazda head office. Was invited inside to look at the historic display cars.

Asked me to park in front of the entry to have some photos taken. Trust me my mx5 is nothing special, just nice rims and in reasonable condition. Well it is special to me as it is one of those want things not need things. Could have bought just about anything but bought my 5 after driving my sons.

Have taken a few non car people for a quick squirt, the comments are normally along the lines of how can something so cute looking feel like a performance car.

End of the day would take a lot for me to part with it. I enjoy my drive to work, I look forward to track time (in the future) and the drives in the mountains with my wife roof down, putting along.

After many years of boring family taxis, i have rediscovered my joy of driving.

The best bit, this forum is pretty good, met some great people and I can pretty much service and fix it myself with a bit of thought and research.

Road legal go kart....hell yeh!

Try owning an rx7, I couldnt stop at a petrol station without being interviewed by another rotary fan or someone asking me who my mechanic is.

Hej is right.if you drove MG or TR you will get comments from people who are interested. The original story did sound a bit odd though.

The very day purchased my MX5 back in September 2012 a guy pulled up along side me in another NC and started chatting to me at the lights not far from where I picked mine up. The first question "was how long have you had your MX5 ?" to which my answer was "about 6 minutes", that got a strange look !

It was one of the first things I noticed the week I got my MX-5 - everyone is just so weirdly friendly.

Like other people have said, every other owner of an MX will wave or say hi, people stop to comment when I park it or get in in parking lots - even caught a few people taking photos. It's not like mine is an amazing example either, it's stock and usually can do with a clean!

The second thing I noticed was how bad some of the roads in inner-city Brisbane are. Pot-holes take a whole new meaning, I've gotten good a spotting and avoiding them now!
Because reasons.

This, viewtopic.php?f=56&t=60762 will explain a lot about the 'warm and fuzzy' responses that our little cars generate.

That is so classic, Greg. I laughed hard. I must have missed that first time around.
I just love the guy's passion & enthusiasm.
The video sums it up perfectly (substitute your own favourite beer and team)

Welcome CatchyD  I know where you are coming from, I have lost count on how many people have come up to me and comment on my mx5. I have owned XR8's and even a EVO and never had a comment from those cars.
Great people here too :)
