problem with stock nbse

For a while last year I was having problems with my stock nb se. When ever the car was held at the same amount of revs for long periods like when driving along the free way, the car would loose power. I would put my foot down and nothing, no boost and was very hesitant to rev out under load. It got to the point that I had to ride the clutch to get off from standing still. Over the space of a few months it did this about 4-5 times. I had the car looked at by my mechanic but he couldn't find anything as the problem stopped occurring.

Its been about 3-4 months since it stopped happening. Was on a cruise along the freeway last night and as usual the car was going great until I changed down to fourth and gave it abit. The boost came on for like a half a second and then nothing. I changed back up to sixth just cruised along at 100km until we got off, I tried giving it another crack and it was fine.

Does any one know what could be going on? Its done 170 thousand km and from what I know its still on its original turbo, there's no smoke or whistling coming from it either. I am about to start upgrading the intercooler, intake, exhaust etc so I can eventually turn the boost up and get more power out of it.

we had a non turboed NB with a similar problem, its turned out to be the crank sensor. the cam and crank sensors on these things work together so if one starts to fail the other will seem like it is as well. its very hard to tell which one is failing so we changed both and no more problems. this car by rememory had around 200,000km so id say yours would need to be changed soon anyways. hope this helps......

Have you at some stage applied The Solution and found an instant improvement?

Nope... just keep reading about it on the US forum; but might give the solenoid a clean one day just to be prepared.

Don't bother cleaning the solenoid, just spend $80odd and replace it with a MAC 3 way valve.
I had this issue with mine, I cleaned it and a day later it's shocking again.
Put the 3way MAC valve on and not had an issue since.
Was far worse for me during winter or really cold conditions

I should clarify, you want a three way solenoid with two barbs and a filter/vent

I'm on holidays at the moment but google MAC Valves Australia and it should come up. It's actually a 3way boost solenoid that everyone uses to upgrade from the factory one.
If you have no luck I can find the receipt next week when I get home which will have the contact details of the company :)
