I am a big fan of exhaust wrap myself, I have used it on all of my cars/bikes for years now. I did the standard headers on my NB8A after I removed all the brackets off it, it made a huge difference to under bonnet temps over the standard shroud.

Plus looks like "because race car"

I thought about that but had always thought (read) that it was not a good idea to wrap stainless steel pipes so it needed to be a cover.

Having installed the Sparco Sprint V seat I have found it a lot more difficult to raise the soft top. Whilst not impossible from the drivers seat, it is certainly a lot more difficult and involved a degree of contortion that I was not enjoying.

So i thought it would be good to install some sort of strap, lead to help lift the top.
After a little bit of digging in my shed I found an old tie down that I was prepared to cut up to use. This was going to work but being off an old boat cover it had seen better days and was not improving the look of the car.

I then remembered that I seem to have more neck lanyards than I could ever wear or do something with as I get one at any event or conference I attend. These lanyards are perfect as they have the plastic snap lock so the strap can be removed.
So I cut off the metal clip on one end, I added a little bit of webbing in the loop that goes under the handle to create a wedge so it can not pull out.

So this is my version of the soft top pull up. Total Cost $0.00.....

Ah, my mistake, yeah stainless is the devil, I had a stainless exhaust manifold on my old Skyline, it lasted one track day before it cracked, and it wasn't wrapped either, for NA I like mild steel and for boosted applications its steam pipe.

If the stainless gives me trouble I still have the factory headers to install.

In black urethane. On my car it is ok with out paint but I will get it painted when I get the nose painted.

Are you going to track this little beastie mate?, mine is still a little way away from its first outing, I've got some BC coils, exhaust, intake mods and some bigger rubber but its roll bar, although all painted up, is still not fitted, and the hard top is waiting for its fitting kit to arrive.

Honestly, I cannot wait to track my little beastie. its got about 300ish kw atw less than my old toy (25/30 Skyline 400ish kw atw) but as Yoda would say, "excitement much he has".

I am extremely happy about the platform these things have.

Yes, looking at doing my first track day in early March. This gives me enough time to get some decent tyres and work on the intake. Has been a few years since I raced go karts so there will be lots of learning.
I just got some bits to try a cold side intake to see if I like it.

I know what you mean by a little less power as i dropped about 135kw plus 4wd from my M35 Stagea that was a little more than stock.
I know the new owner of my car lapped Wakefield in 1.14 so that is my goal in the MX5.

Who do you run with, me, I mix it up between SAU NSW and SSCC.

I am hoping to piss in a 1:14 at Wakie, so should you.

A guy from SAU in a fairly standard NA6 has got a 1:11 at wakie, on semis, but still, 1:14 is defiantly achievable on some good tyres.

Just don't brake and keep into it for turn 1, LOL.

I am not sure who the group is, a mate is going to one and invited me. The email says it is a Private track day, but my mate says they run a good day.

I will be watching out for a Track day at Easter Creek South circuit.

Wakie, EC South, Marulan and now Luddenham, things are looking up for tracks that suit a 5.

RIP Oran Park.

The EC GP/full and North circuit with its big straight would see the little things running out of puff, not that I will not be giving them a good going over, its just that a tight track will suit the limited powahs but good handling characteristics of the 5 much better.

Pulled off the front inner guards today and cleaned out the leaves and muck. Just a little bit in there.

Have you cleaned out the drain tubes on the rear parcel shelf, mine were blocked and full of crap, a vacuum cleaner worked well for me to suck out 15 years of crap, they now drain like Bob Hawk draining a schooner.

I did my front guards a while ago, you definitely win for the amount of vegetation found.
