Price will be $265 plus $44 for helmet hire, if needed. The day is a full day and drinks and food are provided.

I will fire off a PM to those on the list with a link to the brochure.

Can I use my open face helmet I have now?

As long as its AS1698 or better spec shouldn't be a problem, helmet is only needed for the drag strip.

Hmmm Drag Strip I believe requires closed face, well they do for their Test N Tune

Well I would grab one then to make sure if you can as we run under Willowbank as a private hire for 90 minutes, sensible to have one anyway, no matter what sport. I wouldn't drive any car on the track without a full face, I've seen what can happen and it's not nice, but that's my preference.

However there website is a little confusing as they also say open face for some cars is OK.

Two weeks to go until the 8th.....

Anyone want to jump in at this late stage????

We should still be able to get you in at the discounted rate of $265, that includes lunch and a full day of activities, as well as the full test and tune night at Willowbank if you want to stay on for the evening.

One week to go peoples......

Should be a great day.

Remember, we will be at the drag strip, not QR, so when you get onto Champions Way turn left about 50-100m up the road into the drag strip and follow the SDT signs around the back of the drag strip itself and down to the SDT shed.

Make sure you have plenty of fuel on board, wrist to ankle clothes and your helmet and also check your tyre pressures. They need to be at the higher end of what you would run for a spirited drive, so 28-32 depending on preference and your car.

Dammmm just received this email...

It is with regret I must advise that we have been forced to postpone the planned Performance Driving Day scheduled for Saturday 8 March at Willowbank Raceway.

The reasons are 2 fold.
1. Over recent weeks some large potholes have formed in one of the tarmac areas used for the drifting and solo timed events. I have been pressuring the management of Willowbank Raceway to fix these holes but repairs were only performed yesterday. I am concerned the resurfacing will not cure and potentially will reopen and could damage both our training cars and participants cars.

2. These holes have damaged one of our drift training cars twice in recent weeks. The first impact resulted in a complete break of the rear lower control arm. This was repaired but on Monday we noticed the rear right wheel on this car was sitting at an acute angle. We rushed the car to our mechanic for immediate diagnosis. As of 9am today it has been discovered the wheel alignment is correct off all measured points, meaning the chassis is bent. More diagnosis is needed, but this car is not safe to use and unfortunately we don’t have a 3rd drift car available.

Therefore we cannot run the Performance Day as advertised and worry about the potential to incur damage to participant cars.

We can refund your fees or roll these over to the next date.

We are waiting for the management of Willowbank Raceway to confirm the next date when the private drags strip hire is available.

That's the second event I've had postponed on me this year (first was a WRX day), talk about bad luck!

A bit of a bugger.....

But these things happen and better to be safe than have a couple of cars damaged if the resurfacing fails, which is a good chance with only a couple of days for the emulsions to cure in the asphalt/bitumen.

Jaron, let me know if you don't get the email and I can foward my copy onto you. Magpie put up the gist of it and you have the choice of a refund or enrollment into the next day, once a date id known.
