Hi guys
Just had my 2006 NC serviced at the dealer
And they have said that the 2 rear struts are leaking and should be replaced
Quote was around 600
My mx5 is compleatly stock
So was wondering if it's a good time to investigate a full suspension upgrade and replace all 4 sides?
And what should I look at getting?
I'm still a little confused as to what the struts are...
I haven't done any track days for about 3 years however that was due to moving house and the mx became my daily driver
I've moved last year and only drive short distances now and was thinking to get back into the meetups and race days etc

Re: Rear struts leaking
A strut is a shock absorber that incorporates other components.
Type 'strut' into google image search..
Just take it that he was saying shock absorber.
Yeah you should go to a performance setup if you drive the car spiritedly, or just replace with stock if not.

Re: Rear struts leaking
If the quote of $600 was for the two genuine struts, and installation, it's actually quite cheap.
As Dann Said, Strut = upright = shock absorber = coilover
Lots of terms used for the same thing, coilovers normally refer to adjustable though.

Fez, For daily drive with a little track thrown in on std springs, You cannot go past the Tokico HTS.
It's adjustable and matches perfectly with the OEM spring.
If the rears are shot the fronts won't be far behind.
Give SHOX.com a look...
The duck's guts is the Ohlins coilover, buy locally from the dealer they will transform your car but you'll need to top up $2500 to buy plus install.

Not sure if it including install, however I just dropped 1k on a service + battery + new front breaks
So maybe they were being nice
Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was the shocks!
