Man that sucks to hear bud. Good to see you back on the horse again though!

Did you have the roll bar installed at the time?

Luckily it was taken out a few weeks before the crash, some of the mounting hardware was left on the car though.

Wow can't believe I've left it this long for an update.

Not much has changed on the car except for a few interior bits, I'm still stockpiling a bunch of parts that I haven't found the time to install/been too lazy but they'll all be put on the car eventually :)

I've put off buying coilovers straight away like I did on my previous nb and tried to research on what would be better for me. While I liked the Premium Competition YellowSpeeds I felt like they were too stiff even after filddling around with the settings, I wasn't too bothered as I scored them for cheap brand new from another forum member. In the end I settled on some HSD HR coilovers after reading a few reviews on them and wanting to try something different from the usual BCs and yellowspeeds.

Will post photos of the car and a review of the HSDs once they're installed.

I'm interested to hear how you like the HSD HR's, I'm currently looking at getting the same for my SE.

Did you get the standard spring rates 10kg Front 8kg rear?

I'll double check but they're listed as 8kg front 6kg rear on the website so I'm assuming that's what I got.

Will be forcing myself in the garage to take some snaps of what's been happening :) Update should not disappoint!

Okay well finally here's the update! I'll start from where I left off:

With the help of a few mates we installed the HSD's without too much trouble, the only problem encountered was a tophat bolt on one of the front coilovers that took some effort to get off but got there in the end. When I installed the YSR coils in my previous NB I had the same problem but with a rear tophat!
Here's a picture of it freshly installed and another I found pretty cool, a comparison of the stock NB, SE and HSD coilovers.

I got an alignment shortly after the install at Wheelsworld Tires and More in Osbourne Park (recommended by another forum member) and they set it up perfectly. If I can find the sheet I'll post up the specs.
Here's how it looked after they tweaked the height for me.

I've been driving on the coilovers for a few months now and compared to the yellow speeds I was used to they're just better in every way. I had the premium competition YSR which were 12kg/12kg I think which were horrible for daily driving, I'd literally drive down a flat road and I'd be bouncing up and down in my seat from the tiniest bump, they weren't properly setup though so maybe it's not a fair comparison. The HSD's on the other hand are smooth and just handle beautifully, if you throw the car into a corner or go on a spirited drive you'll have a smile on your face. Definitely would recommend to anyone who's looking to upgrade.

A little while after the coilovers I moved onto the interior and put some nice pieces in there.

Quite a few goodies in one picture! I always liked the look of the shorty console so I bought the Jetstream 2pc set through Jesse Streeter as well as the Garage Vary CF fascia which I think looks good. Insterestingly enough it's just a layer of carbon fibre that places over the original with double sided tape, I though at the price it would be the whole surround but that's JDM for you. Also pictured is the Mazdaspeed gearknob and handbrake handle, I love the weight of the knob but with the recent hot days we've had in Perth the knob gets stupidly hot if left out in the sun so I might replace with something else, not sure yet. There's also the Nakamae sidestep trim I transferred from my other NB.

Another part that I installed from the other NB was my Nardi 350mm deepcorn which I personally believe suits the SE interior perfectly. The light weight feel of the steering makes it a real blast to drive with, though I know the legalities of removing the stock wheel so no one needs to remind me.

The install was easy as it was the second time doing it but fiddling with an active airbag always give you some nerves, if anyone doing the mod wants any tips feel free to ask! My advice if you want to install a wheel on a NB is to pick up a plug & play boss kit such as the Daikei boss as it comes with a plug to stop the airbag light and is real easy to install, I heard some cheaper bosses you have to play with the clockspring to fit which I would rather not do. I got mine for around $80 from Jesse Streeter (Much, much cheaper than Rev9)

Interior looks excellent! Looking forward to seeing those wheels.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
