Beatrush collar review

Hey guys, I bought a Beatrush collar to replace the collar that come with the Miata short shifter kit. I really like the sound that when I shift into gear, the shifter end hit the collar and create the "click" sound is just so awesome. Also the shifting become more definite and sharp, it really feel good. However, the Beatrush collar inner is bigger than the miata one, so it has some extra space to move the shifter even is in gear.

I really recommend you guys to buy it. Cost $30 and have more than $30 of fun :D

yep they aint too bad. I had a brass bush in my NB when I owned it

it was part of a group buy a few years ago

Don't mean to be negative, however I had a brass one in one of my other 5s, everything else to do with the shifter was standard. I found after a few months of use that gear shifting became harder. I pulled out the shifter and found that the brass one was wearing unevenly. Bought a new plastic one from Mazda and have never looked back.

I'd agree.

Why replace the long lived, dirt cheap, friction-free nylon bushing with a brass one that's destined to wear faster (or wear the shifter itself)

Isn't it the aluminium should last longer? Also I can really feel the shifting is more clean and sharp.

Some of the nylon bushes I use are 50 years old and still perfect. Hence I re-use them. The shifters I use are also 50 years old. I also re-use perfect nylon gears that are again just as old as the above. Why would a brass one increase longevity of shifter and housing metals over nylon? That's cool if you like it, but there's nothing wrong with nylon.

Metal on metal always increases wear compared to a "self lubricating" medium isn't?

Yes, the housing where the shifter fits into and shifter will wear more. Make sure you put plenty of grease on it.

My shifter got stiff also and after 4 months I found it had cracked. Replaced with a genuine part and it's been great since.

I wanted it to be great but it was a waste of money for me

Brass is fairly self lubricating hence it use for stern glands of ships and the like but I wouldn't expect it to be in the same ball pack as nylon.

I have put white grease with the collar, I think it is more sharp than plastic one. Somehow I feel sticky with the plastic one.
