Bought a Robbins tonneau cover for my 2000 MX5 NB (which covers from the rear of the roof to the top front of the dashboard - similar to below). When I looked at fitting it, it seems that the Tenax lift-the-dot fasteners screw into the dash top which looks to be only plastic. This was my first concern, but but I was also worried about getting the fitting right, because I have read about stretch and shrink with temperature change etc.
So off to the local motor trimmer. He suggests the best way to fit it would be to remove the windscreen from the surround. There is a chance it will break, and double the total cost of the whole exercise.
I don't think Moss motors would be helpful, or for that matter, Robbins. The fitting instructions that came with it are worse than those you get with an item from Asia.
I am in Australia, and tonneau fitting does not seem to be a common feature on MX5's here - haven't seen one yet.
I would welcome any suggestions.
Cheers

Yeah, full tonneau cockpit covers are scarce here I think mainly due to the price of them in the past, & I imagine currently. Seem to be much more common in the US, so may be Miata.net might have something on fitting them:

Sounds like you've already got the Robbins Tonneau installation kit, but if not:

Thank you Clubman. The first suggestion gives good instructions, but I think these are for an NA model, not NB. There are no holes in the NB for the Tenax to screw into. This seems to be the real issue.

Above is for USDM MY1999, ie NB8A or P1 in VIN. With yours being a 2000 NB8 it could be either NB8A or NB8B. The NB8B has P2 in the VIN. The change in the ADM was at build date: Oct 2000. That said, there may have been a difference in USDM & ADM or there was a change from one model to the next.
