Fitted a set if Eibach springs to the Bilsteins today. It is a fairly straight forward job with the right tools and knowing the best bolts to undo to remove the shock assembly.
Rear wheels are only 5 bolts to undo per side.
Fronts are 6 bolts per side plus the undertray.

I gave myself some extra practice on the rears having installed the wrong springs first time so it was like 1.5 shock and spring changes .. lol

I was worried the car was going to be too low and be a problem of clearance but after a short drive it is not looking too bad with the front and rear dropping about 20mm from the previous height. I will take some shots today and post them up.

Took the car for a bit of a drive to settle the springs and get a wheel alignment. The car had dropped about 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear from the stock Bilstein springs compared to the new Eibach springs.

Really happy with the new height of the car and how the car rides on the Eibach springs. The ride is less harsh but seems to be almost as firm at the Bilstein springs.

Now I can do the Putty road drive it is on.

Saw a low profile foot rest on a UK site the other day and decided it was a good investment given my desire to have more room in the driving position.

It arrived today so it was installed tonight.

I am really happy with the extra room for my left leg and getting my knee away from the steering wheel.

Now just to decide on what seat to install.... Sparco Sprint V Vs Cobra Monarco ??? oh the desissions

Just finished a prototype CAI in tin, just need to get some alloy and replicate it, total cost of CAI was $35 as I had a elbow and some paint floating around.

I have removed it now and have flattened it out for a template, I'm in Sydney myself, if you like the design I could supply you with a cardboard template if you like.

I went through about 5 initial designs before I was happy enough.

A card board template would be great thanks.
I looked at those air filters but was told they were only good for turbo application as they did not flow well enough but their size was appealing.
I had semi given up on the cold side intake and am dabbling with a intake box for the factory airbox but was going to open up the side of the box a bit more. I managed to get an extra airbox that I am going to play around with to find the best result. Knowing me, I will likely make up an intake system for both sides and see what I like best.

Let me know how to get the template?

The yellow filter was only used for mock up, I ended up with a k&N style short filter for the finished item, there is no flow issue, the restriction is the throttle body, MX5 mania NA car Goldie is running the same size filter and its times and numbers speak for theirself.

When I copy up some templates I will pm you about pick up.

Love long weekends at home... I get to do projects on the car.

Installed a self adhesive heat shield in the transmission tunnel purchased from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390436403927 ... 1439.l2649

Almost a good fit. The product is great but may have been a little too hasty in the install but it is good.

It does not stick as well once you have stuck it to the wrong thing... doh.

I think installing on a hoist would be easier than on stands in my driveway. there are a few alignment issues to be considered as the tunnel is larger at the front and smaller at the rear so if aligned square on one side it will be on an angle on the other.
I needed to use a piece of wood and a hammer to reach the top of the tunnel towards the motor as I mounted a little too close to the motor and the tunnel flares at this point so I tried to stretch the material a little here.

Just back from a trip to the USA for work. I had a couple of parts for my car delivered to my hotel to save on freight costs.
1) Track Dog heat shield ($100US)
2) O2 sensor. ($74 US)
freight $17US.

I decided to install the heat shield yesterday as it is meant to be quick to install and I want my air vents to blow cool air and since installing my headers as removing the heat shield the car has been on the warm side.

This is how my headers looked before. The heater hose and the aircon pipe is very close to the unshielded header.

First step; Install brackets for heat shield on the outer most posts.

Then shape the shield around header and fit in between heater/aircon hose and header.
Shape the front edge in around header and hoses.
Fit 2 supplied bolts to secure the shield in place on the installed brackets.

All up it was about a 30 minute job including removing the airbox and very straight forward.

A short test drive seemed to show it was working well and the engine bay seemed a little cooler. The shield was warm to the touch bet not too hot to touch like the headers would be.
The real test is today when I have let the warm car sit for a while and then driving again as this is when the air from the vents seems really warm. Fingers crossed.

I am a big fan of exhaust wrap myself, I have used it on all of my cars/bikes for years now. I did the standard headers on my NB8A after I removed all the brackets off it, it made a huge difference to under bonnet temps over the standard shroud.

Plus looks like "because race car" :lol:
