Yellwspeed or BC coilovers

Postby ljs18 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 5:47 pm

Hi. I am contemplating to replace the ??old standard KYBs with coilovers on a standard NA6. Yellowspeed and BC come to mind. Any experiences, good or bad with these two? Cheers

Lots of information about the Yellowspeeds and also some comparison with them vs BC's in this thread http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=42522

I have a set of Yellowspeed Dynamic Sport. A big improvement over OEM suspension, has the ability to be fairly firm, especially on the rough Sydney Roads. For the price, I can't complain as I knew there would be a compromise with ride quality for the handling performance and height I wanted to run.

What models are you looking at? I have the BC ER's and have no complaints with the exception that rebound adjustment is not linear.

HSDs are another good option at this price point. Of the two you mention though, BCs are the better quality.

Haven't tried BC but have mates that use them on other cars to me they're very similar.

As for YS on the MX5, everyone complains about the rear and compression issues which is true though can easily be resolved with the correct shock adjustment.

Cheers and goodluck

I've had both the premium competition YSR and HSD HR's and find the HSD's to be the better coilover out of the two. I had a suspension shop adjust the dampering etc and the car drives beautifully now; no complaints at all.

How did you arrive at the spring rates? Are you running large aero hence the spring rate selection?

Reviving an older thread...

1) Which shop was it and who worked on your shocks (who did the work)?

2) Why did you feel there was need for a non-HSD place to revalve off-the-shelf HSD coilovers?
