I am looking to fit a Cobra Monarco Sport drivers seat in my NB8A as my stock seats have seen better days and now have numerous holes in the drivers seat.
I have sat in a Sprint V but as I am 6'3" I found it a little narrow in the shoulders and having done a little searching I have seen similar comments. I tried the Cobra seat and Revolution and it seemed a little better fit for my shoulders.
There seems to be a mount for the seat rails but this raises the seat 3-4mm. I would like to mount the seat on the seat rails so my wife can drive the car also. The car is a weekender and occasional track car.
Can anyone advise whether the Cobra seat can be mounted to the rails without the adapter bars? Or what the alternative mounts are possible?

This method of mounting could be used.

Not sure how the seat belt stalk would go with this style of mounting tho.

Re: Fitting a Cobra Monarco Sport seat in a NB
do the cobra monaco's have a side mounting?
i sat in one of mania's car with one fitted and it felt worse off than my normal nb8b seat. i too am 6'3 with shoulders wider than a sparco will allow haha

I've been looking for an alternative to the sprint v also and found just about anything else fouls to a greater or lesser degree, a single or combination of
A) seatbelt tower
B) transmission tunnel
C) door.
So be careful to check every which way! I've pretty much given up and am just going to fit a sprint v and live with it.

Re: Fitting a Cobra Monarco Sport seat in a NB
I just finished fitting the passenger side Velo GPT in my NA today, not 100% happy. The PCI mounts have a semi captured nut that I will get rid of and that should get it closer to the tunnel...
but I digress, be prepared for some tunnel massaging. Good luck

I have found various images of the seat fitted in a MX5 but mostly in the UK where they are made so they seem to fit and they say they are designed specifically for MX5 and similar small cars. I did sit in a seat at Mania also and found not quite right but I am not sure if that was to do with the mounting although it was not bad. I do like the finish of the Cobra seat as it seems to be reinforced where the Sprint V fails every time and looks like it will be longer lasting. The Sprint V seat I sat in seemed too tight around the shoulders for me but again I think some of this can be improved in the individual mounting.
Is the Sparco Sprint V seat ADR approved?
I know the Cobra seats are not so I am open to some problems about being defected but is this the same if it is the Cobra or the Sparco seat?
I have to do some thing about my seats as I have big tears in the base and the better seat covers are way up there around $500 for a set so not really sure of any perfect option.

Yes, the Cobra has side and bottom mounting.

Yes the sprint v is ADR approved as a variation on the sprint which is approved.

Re: Fitting a Cobra Monarco Sport seat in a NB
I had a pair of these in my SP for a while. I mounted them from the bottom using some 50x3mm steel attached to the seat and the NB rails. I found the angle of the seat back uncomfortable - they have more angle than the Sparco Sprint and other seats, which works against taller people. After living with fixed back racing seats for 12months I went back to std cloth seats, for a daily they make life easier. I still have a race seat in the shed for track days though.

I have admitted defeat on being a pioneer and order a Sparco Sprint V.
I hope it fits me well.
