Re: Engine/model identification
Interesting to know morlock :-)
The engine I'm after has the 9.5cr and solid lifter head.
Mx5, NB series 1, 1998
vin JIMONB3Op10010001
Does this car ^ have the motor I'm chasing?
*info sourced from redbook lol*

Re: Engine/model identification
the NB and P1 designations are for a pre-facelift NB, known commonly as an NB8A
They were made from late 1998 to early 2000
I know for sure it has solid lifters, but I'm not 100% on the compression ratio, 9.5:1 does ring a bell though.
It also has the VICS intake manifold and no variable valve/cam timing, in case any of that matters.

Yep.
If the OP needs any reference photos of the engine bay and/or parts, just let me know.

Re: Engine/model identification
Cheers guys!
I'd love some photos, it's be handy to have some to reference.

I'll let u know what I'll need pics of,
What's to go with the VICS intake when going to turbo?
Just disconnect and leave it or what?

Re: Engine/model identification
Would a front cut be worth it at about $2500-$3000?
Or cheaper to source fwd motor locally and convert?

Re: Engine/model identification
front cut be preety cool as you get all the management and wiring and enviromental gear. which means DOT will like you better as you'll automaticly pass various enviromental ADRs for rego.

Re: Engine/model identification
So it'd be easier I spose,
plus I'd have a front cut that runs to reference where everything goes n sh*t.

Re: Engine/model identification
Ignore previous, I researched lol
5sp $250 slightly longer ratios
6sp $1300 slightly shorter ratios.
Now my question is, are all the 5sps the same from 89-00?
Or is it like the g series in the 323's, where they are all a little different..?
