Shannons Insurance Agreed Value

Postby Magpie » Thu Jan 16, 2014 4:33 pm

I have to say a big thank you to Daniel from Shannons in arranging the current agreed value for my MX5. It added very little to the current cost of my policy(s), but more importantlythe policy olicy now lists almost every modification that has been done to my car.

Not only was Daniel a big help, but he also drifts his own car and was genuinely interested in my car and the modifications. I have been dealing with Daniel for a few years now and he is the reason I keep my insuarance with Shannons.

If you want to deal with a real person who genuinely cares give him a ring (no this is not a paid advertisment rather a heart felt thanks for very good customer service).

Yes, but its a 13 number so you'll get redirected to your nearest state Shannons Office unless you can give his direct contact.

I'll either get his direct number or I'll post his email address. Thanks for pointing out the 13 number issue.

Agree with the endorsement with shannons, my wife's car was recently written off, a pleasure to deal with. No problems. No hassles what so ever. :D

Another +1 for Shannons here!

By far the cheapest quote for my newly aquired NB SE and the least painful quoting process.....
Gave the impression that they were genuinely interested in real car enthusiasts and I have confidence that as my modification process continues I'll be fully and properly covered for my baby as she grows and develops over the coming years!

It might have been Daniel I spoke to a few weeks back, was awesome.

You get a significant discount when you have at least 7 cars on the policy.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I don't like their new customer 'interview' process when you buy insurance over the phone with them. where they interrogate you to find out if you're a real enthusiast.

I was trying to ensure my 1999 RX7 with them and they were asking me to explain why I thought that was an enthusiasts car. Are you kidding me.

Better than youi though. who quoted me $150p/mnth to ensure an 2006 NC mx5 which I don't drive to work, which they were convinced was a 'sports car with a turbo', when every other insurance company wanted ~$90 p/mnth.

Just be aware that they are an insurance co and check the quote. They are not competitive on all car insurance. They do ask strange questions like what did you pay for a car as though that has a bearing on the value.. It can be irrelevant. Ask them how the car is valued.. And see what the policy states. You can insure ordinary cars with them and why not indeed.

Hrms, I bought my current car from a Daniel (not the same one though) who worked at Shannons Insurance in Adelaide. Also joined up to the insurance through him too lol.

Enquired for a quote 22yo, no accident history etc. Came back at 1000ish. Ok. So then I went to sign up when I bought Ron's car and I noted it had upgraded shocks/springs. Suddenly the price rocketed to 1700 with a 7500 value. Just car was $880 for a 10k value with same excess. I was impressed with the customer service however!

They'll give you discounts if the car is garaged and if you hold a CAMs licence.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I only wish I could employ customer service ppl that get there own thread

Its up to everyone to ring around and compair quotes every insurance company has its own criteria .

I recently got a quote through Shannon's for our new (nb 2000) car for a limited use agreement. They would only insure it for the amount I paid for it plus costs to get it on road which was 4.5k and that was $400/year. I went with Racq for $500/year and drive it when ever I want and got it insured for twice that of which Shannon's offered.
Horses for courses I guess.
It's the wife's car.

That's really weird I've had a similar experience to magpie.

Can do what ever I want agreed value, started with them @ 21?. Had a HZ ute that turned out to have once been a panel van. Guy on the phone was into old Holden's and new about the different dashes etc.

Then with the mx the guy had an rx7, had swapped from a mega squirt to a haltec etc etc.
