Introducing Myself + Any Helpful Advice?

Car comes with no rego, and no RWC (seller was willing to organise getting the RWC however the rego runs out in the beginning of February, so instead of paying the stamp duty to transfer a month rego I may as well just get full 12 months and the roady through a friend. I've already sorted out which shop I'll go to in order to get a RWC for it as it sits instead of having to make sure it 100% complies and will pass at another random shop.

I'm always willing to fix the small little things as it'll help me learn more about how to fix the small little things haha.

I'm starting to notice there is a lovely supply of second hand parts for these cars and it makes sourcing parts so much easier.
I know I will get smack for it but, I have some 17x7's wrapped in kuhmo ku31's that can go on my mx5 if I wish to switch the steelies quicker, they'll only be on the car while I save for some nice 15x7.5's or 15x8's to go on.

In Vic you probably have no friends for rwc's - passing a car that's not right is a big risk to the guy doing the checking and better to fix the things anyway since its about safety The beauty of the rwc being supplied is that your are covered and know where you stand. But we all take calculated risks including me and sometimes a car is simply never going to pass a rwc without work being done. In Vic you cannot drive an unreg car without a Permit which you pay for. You pay stamp duty on market value and its a small sum. Enjoy.

Stamp duty will still be payable when you register the car though won't it?

Possibly? I'm still fine with paying it.

The main reason why I am getting the car RWC'd myself and re-registered is because it will mean that I don't have to wait until the seller can supply the road worthy as he told me after my very first question about the car (asking if it came with RWC), that he works long hours and getting time to get the RWC could take a little time. The rego, runs out beginning of next month and so would need to be paying for new rego when I purchase the car anyway. So instead of him having to trust me driving around with his rego, he'll just cancel the rego and I'll get the form to allow me to drive directly to the shop and pay the $30 or something for that.

I wouldn't get my friend to take it to his shop for the RWC unless I knew the car was roadworthy, apart from the few minor things like no high beam and drivers window. Plus it saves me time with switching out the wheels (as they slightly poke) and steering wheel, plus encasing the pod filter, before I take it to a shop. I obviously wish to fix the minor issues as quickly as possible once I get the car.

It began before I had the car,
I've already started looking at parts and prices of parts, trying to work out which way I wish to go. What I want to do first.
This is going to be a fun and long journey.

no to 17's :cry:

happy to lend you some wheels until you get what you want. From experience those wheels tend (sometimes) to exacerbate any problems the car may have with bearings...heavy, bigger foot print,,,bla bla.

I have a stash or parts I may be looking at getting rid off...rims, rear boot spoilers...tonnaue cover..I also have a new power window motor/regulator rhs....zorst bits.

Interesting... Yeah I may keep the 15x8 steelies it comes with on for a little bit, but don't want them on there for long as they do poke out by about 5-10mm so I don't want to be hassled by the police. Plus 17's would look a bit funny I think.

Shall send you a PM once I get the car so I know what I need to look for!
