Performance Driving Day 8th March at Willowbank

As above in the title, a great day to be had at Willowbank at SDT's Performance Driving Day.

I did the last day in November last years and had a ball as well as learnt a lot.

Basically the day is split into 4 main activities and points tallied to find the best driver on the day.

There is a motokhana, done in your car and SDT's car to ensure fairness with the times that count.

A larger Gymkhana course in your car

Drift session in SDT's cars, and finally

A session on the drag strip in your car.

When I went there was plenty of Evo's, some old school escorts, including a very nice Cosworth homologation special and a few others. The MX5 punched well above its weight in the competitive sections and I even did what I thought was reasonable 1/4 mile times for what my car is.

You won't hurt the car and you will learn a lot and have a great time. And you may just walk away with a prize at the end of the day as well.

It would be a good opportunity to see if a group could be put together to have a play on the day and show up a lot of more powerful cars.

Anyone who has done a SDT track day at Morgan Park will know how well the company runs these types of days.

Just putting it up there....

If we can get 6 to have a play I will do the organising the paperwork and so on with SDT.

It would be good to see a selection of MX5's show up the evos and rex's in the motokhanas. Unfortunately not too many of us would go well down the drags in comparison...

Looks like we have three takers already....... Anyone else want to come and play?

If you lot want to do this let me know and I will make a tentative booking for a minimum of 6 slots tomorrow evening so that gives you some time to ask permission, grovel or whatever else you need to do to be allowed to go from the other half before we are committed to going.

All you need is long pants, long sleeves and enclosed shoes, basically what you wear for a track day is fine plus a helmet, which can also be hired for the day. For the early morning stuff, if it is hot T-shirts are fine, but drag strip will need all longs.

Fill the forms in and get them to me :lol:

Matt - Jason keeps trying to get me to one of these. Depending on what happens I could be keen, and I think the gf will also be keen in her car... maybe.

Mark, do both.......

Use the red one for this day if you want, it will be as much fun as with the big car.

Or use the big car and get a heap of opportunities for aero testing, in the 90 minutes on the drag strip you will get to practice starts like never before, experimenting with revs etc to launch best. Also get to see how fast the car is against the clock and other cars with more or less done to them.

And learn some new skills with the drift lessons. After seeing how drifting can improve my track driving I am taking every opportunity to learn more on car control skills for the track, plus it awesome fun thrashing someone else's car.....

Just line up and go, basically a test and tune so have a run and pick up your time slip as you go round for the next one.

So, can I have a list of people committing to do this so I can organise the group pricing if we get over 6 going.

Add your name to the list and I will get it all sorted.

I would rather this is done earlier than later. No need to pay yet but I need to know who is going so we can reserve spots and get the discounted rate, $265 and save you $30.
If we get the six over the weekend I will get it all sorted, paperwork to you and make sure our spots are secured for the 8th March.

This is a great day out and you will learn a lot about your car and improve your driving as well as learn a new skill or two.

If you are keen let me know and put your name on the list. If we get the six minimum there is a $30 discount from the usual price.

Great value for the day and you will be tired at the end of it, plenty of driving time and watching the competition.

It is a great day out and a bit of fun with prizes as well.
