B6 Bogging 2k-4k - Closed throttle > WOT

Postby Skyntara » Wed Jan 08, 2014 3:36 pm

Hi Guys,

Funny problem that I've had for quite a while. I usually just drive around it (more throttle), but it's a bit of a pain sometimes.

Car runs great, revs out, plenty of power.

Often when I'm cruising along in gear with little or no throttle and then give it a bit of a squirt, the car hesitates before taking off. Between 2k and 4k RPM. Above that, no issues. If i take off from idle and run up through the gears it doesn't happen at all.

Have a JR CAI and Xforce extractors. Happened to a similar extent on stock intake and exhaust. Plugs are new, leads are new.

Should I be investigating coils/igniter? I can probably borrow some for testing. Anything else I should be looking at?

Cheers

Cleaned the flapper on the AFM or throttle body butterfly recently?

No leaks around the intake? (clamps on tight, rubber joiners in good condition etc)

clamps and joiners are fine.

I guess I'll give the afm flapper and butterfly a clean with carby cleaner. Since I don't own a car with a carb any more I might as well use it for something.

Not sure if it applies here but hotwires don't like car by cleaner. There's electronic's safe stuff which I've used successfully (contact cleaner).

Hi.
I will try again.
Do not use carby cleaner on the butterfly it will remove the sealer. Use only throttle body cleaner,

Guess I'm stuck with the carby cleaner a bit longer then.

Off to get some throttle body cleaner

check the leads and coils aren't earthing out before the spark gets to the plugs.

Washed the motor lately or has water got into the upper engine bay? See Droo's post in following:

Motor is very dry.

Never wash the outside of the car, let alone the engine bay.
