What to do with a no brand name Disco Potatoe ?
The no brand disco potatoe turbo on my NB starting leaking oil into the air filter on the compressor side so I shouted myself a new Garrett 2860 as a Christmas present. The problem however is what to do with the old potatoe. Should I try sell it on the forum for $50 and end up getting $10 or should I scrap it for the aluminium value? The really sad part of this story is that this potatoe is not very old and the turbine bearing feels OK.

Seal replacement is not that hard.
Here is a guy who DIY'd the replacement. Buy a new seal, replace it, and sell the turbo. Otherwise, just junk it or give it to a poor forum member with the time to rebuild it. It isn't really worth much as is.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
