Help Needed with FFS

Postby ondman88 » Fri Dec 27, 2013 10:23 am

Hello Everybody,

I have completely installed the Fast Forwards Supercharger kit however I don't believe I'm getting any boost, it feels like it did before I installed the supercharger.

Is there anybody that could help me in Canberra that has previously installed a fast forward supercharger kit on an mx5 with my install. I may have some of the hoses wrong or it may just be a matter of playing with the Engine Management power cards.

PM me if you can help, it would be much appreciated, it's doing my head in.

Regards,
Andre

Well, first speak to the person who sold it to you.

You could speak to Dave at MX5 Solutions/Carco, they have installed two M62 kits on NBs and have them pretty well sorted (using Autronic engine management). Dave will be back at the workshop on Monday week.

In the meantime, check all the hoses, belt tension, and ensure that the bypass is functioning correctly. Start with the bypass, if it doesn't feel like it's boosting that would be my starting point.

I no expert on blowers, but am happy to have a look, but I am fully committed until after the weekend. PM me if you like.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Hello,

I was mostly wanting to look at someone else's install if possible.

I've talked to and am still talking to the person I bought the kit from.

its hard doing things over email and the time difference between here and america.

I'll book in the car at carco for as soon as I can and I'll PM you.

Does the FFS system have an idle bipass? Perhaps that's not being activated once you're on throttle.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Get a boost gauge and find out how much if any boost you are getting. Then get a wideband so you can ensure it's actually running safe. With that information you can get an idea where to start looking for either boost leaks/belt slip/faulty bypass valve/incorrectly plumbed in vac lines etc.

That's just how much power superchargers make. 8)
