Looking for tyres recommendation

Postby tescoking » Thu Dec 19, 2013 6:37 pm

Hi guys, I ordered some 15x8 wheels for my NB, and I know I need to use 205/50/15 tyres on them, but I am not sure which should I go for, any recommendation? My car is stock, and only use for daily drive. I am looking for something valuable and slightly above economy class tyres.

Dunlop Direzza Star Specs from tirerack.com in the US.
The Aussie Dollar is lower now than it has been for a while but it's still cheaper than local

We're getting the same rims and I'm looking at either:
1) Bridgestone RE002s
2) Kumho KU36

You can get them online pretty cheap but I've found Kmart Tyres to be on par once you include shipping and fitting to Perth

I'll be going for 205/50/15 on the 8 inch rim.

My main constraints are what class I'll end up in (motorsport) and then money/longevity :)

I think I will go to kmart or other tyre company for KU31, I don't have the tools for fitting the tyres on the rim.

The KU31s are pretty good value. I run them now on the stock 17s.
I didn't want to spend big bucks just before I tried out motorsport - who knows, maybe I wouldn't like it?...

Good in the wet too!

Bridgestone RE002s
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Oh come on...How can I choose from Coca-cola and Pepsi?

By looking at the price on Kmart wesite, KU31 is the cheapest between all you guys named.

Don't bother with the Starspecs, or the KU36, they're both pretty soft street tyres (sort of a not quite a semi - not quite a road tyre)
If you aren't looking for absolute grip all they'll do is cost more, and wear faster.

I'd suggest the KU31, they're a good all rounder (wet/dry), have decent life, and aren't super expensive.

I've got Toyo Proxes4 on mine, they were great when new, but as they wear down they do get noticably slippery.

They're just a good value tyre.

Reputable brand (Kumho), good price (under $100 for 195/50/15), and do a good job in most situations.

KU31 for street use, you wont be dissapointed.

KU36 is more of a track, semi-sport tyre. It weill keep you in the street car class for motorsport events, but they do wear fairly quickly compared to the KU31.

NA8 - BP4W IHI VJ35, 3.9 Torsen2, Adaptronic - SOLD
NB8A - mostly stock for now
