Can't afford the racing basket seat, so just retrim the OEM one.

Oh! You are kidding, man! I had a quotation to retrim my seats with leather and it costs $600 each! For a sparco V is just a bit more...i think it's around $1300..
BTW, I really like your car and just visited your 'garage'....well done!

I am not saying they are trying to get rid of you, but it is just too expensive to purchase 2 seats. I retrimmed the centre console, glove box and two seats in once, and it cost less than 2 basket seats.

Hi Alex, What is that thing crawling across your windscreen?
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Do you run no carpet on the streets?
How do you find it if you do or is it mostly track dríven?

My car is used as a daily, it is noisy, but not as loud as I would have expected.
The only problem I am finding is that the floor is getting scratched up, and the plasti dip is coming up, so I'm thinking of either some floor plates like THESE or maybe hitting up bunnings to find something to protect my paint.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if it's your daily why did you remove the console and carpet? If it's to save on weight or for economy, that's fair; But together they don't weight much and would probably be better off getting lighter wheels, stripping all the sound deadening, spare wheel, soft top, aircon and all the aero. So I'm a little confused.
Or is this just for the look? Not an accusing tone here, if it seems like it, that's because it's in text (which always looks condescending lol). Genuinely curious.

Well I didn't really like the centre console so I got rid of it and made the carpet console, the original console wasn't in great condition and I found it pretty annoying. In that process I bought the Trap centre panel, Jetstream boot release cover and the cobra shift boot and collar which all look great together.
When we were painting the car I pulled up the carpet (which was in poor condition) and painted all the interior, I plasti dipped the floors, insulated all the wiring and relocated it.
I liked it, so I kept it that way.
I still like it and I wouldn't go back.
At the moment I run a floor mat on the drivers side just so I can take my heels off on the trip home from work however the TRS carbon footwell is tempting, perhaps in the new year.
The car doesn't get dríven everyday, maybe 2-3times a week. Work cars are for putting kms on.
When I am bored with it I will give the Mx-5 to my Dad, so maybe he can put the carpet back in lol.

Nothing set in stone, I am considering a few different options might import something, but with the new 3 on our fleet next year I probs wont need to buy another car.

Alex, try using POR15 or a similar paint on the floor instead of Plastidip.

The POR15 is a really hardy paint (it's mainly a chassis paint, so it can take rock hits without chipping off)

I think K&H also do a similar system to POR15, but from memory it's more expensive.

edit:
Has anybody doing a no-carpet floor considered using spray on ute liner?
It's a slightly rubberised coating designed for the tray of utes, it's apparently pretty tough.
