My 04 SE builds boost smooth, hits 8 PSI at about 4200 ish, then at 5500 it all of a sudden jumps up to 12/13 PSI.
What would be causing this? Is this OK to be doing? No boost cut is reached
My car does have an CAI and BOV venting to atmo. It runs factory boost controller currently.
surge in PSI @ 5500

If the boost you're reading is accurate and your car is stock (no dodgy boost-cut mods), you really should be hitting boost-cut.
If the boost gauge is accurate, you can remove the stock EBC out of the loop and plumb it directly to the wastegate. You should only see around 8 psi then. That will rule a few things out hopefully.
I can't watch the video where I am at the moment

defiantly stock, no boost cut mods, the gauge is defiantly accurate. its brand new and installed fine.
I just installed a turbo-smart MBC and now the problem doesn't exist.... that's very weird....
Any thoughts as to why the OEM EBC was doing that but the MBC doesn't?

I've only heard of the EBC "going funny" and struggling with the AEM intake and boost wound up.
Sounds like yours is dying?
I went to a MBC pretty quickly when I stuck my intake in. My stock BOV didn't last long though.
Good to hear all is well though!

Think this thread shows the stock lines to the wastegate, are yours the same?

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
